William David Mauck, affectionately known as "David," age 61, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2023, at his residence; his health declined after the passing of his wife last year. He was born on November 2, 1961, to the late William and Joan Hewitt Mauck.

In addition to his mother and father, William and Joan Mauck, David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Lee Szadkowski Mauck.

David was a loving and dedicated family man. His wife and children's well-being were always his main priority even when they were apart.

He worked at Texas Tavern in the 1980s and spent the last twenty-eight years as an employee of Layman Candy in Salem/Cave Spring, Virginia. He was an easy-going person and a "perfect day" for him could be spent sitting on a riverbank with a fishing pole and a cold beer or just joking around with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Christopher Evans, Melissa Evans, and Trisha Szadkowski Zimmerman (Michael); brother, Dr. James H. Benson; numerous grandchildren,  who he was blessed to have; the closest of these include Danica Evans, Cheyenne Roiter and Brandon Dilcher, Mika Hernandez (Noel) and Denali Zimmerman.
