Wayne Nichols Watson, Jr., of Roanoke, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 66. Wayne, also known as Toby, was born in Durham, North Carolina on July 4, 1955, to the late Wayne Nichols Watson, Sr., and Dorthy Gastor Watson.

Also, preceding Toby in death are his father, Wayne Nichols Watson, Sr.; his ex-wife, Elizabeth Rich Watson; his daughter, Debra Watson; and his former father-in-law, C.J. Rich.

Toby served in the U.S. Navy as a Fire Control Master Chief, completing Navy milestones such as becoming a member of Neptune's Court as a Bluenose (navigating through the Arctic Circle) and as a Shellback (crossing the equator more than twice). One of his favorite pastimes was watching NASCAR. His favorite drivers include the Earnhardt family and Petty family, watching them religiously. Toby also loved to collect antiques.

Those left to cherish Toby's memory are his stepmother, Dorthy Watson; his son, Wayne Nichols Watson III (Nick); his daughter, Jamie Watson Chambers; his granddaughter, Bella Chambers; his brother, Myron Watson; his sister, Donna Watson Holloman; stepbrothers, Johnny Mangum, Jimmy Webster, Dean Webster, and Greg Webster; his former mother-in-law, Camilla Rich; his half-sister, Nancy Braxton; the whole Watson family; and his dog he loved dearly, Bella.

Toby will be missed dearly but never forgotten.
