Wayne Douglas
Claxton
Jun 10, 1953 — Jul 6, 2024
Reverend Wayne Douglas (Doug) Claxton, 71, of Shawsville, VA was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 6, 2024, in Hampton, VA. His unwavering love and strong faith in God were his foundation and peace no matter what the circumstances may have been. His devotion and love for his family were the highlight of every waking day. He was also a proud Charter Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. the Eta Xi Chapter.
Rev. Claxton was a member and deacon of Shawsville Baptist church and later became an ordained Minister in 1994 under Rev. Dr. A. Lincoln James Jr. of Trinity Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. He went on to answer the calling to become the Senior Pastor of the West Bottom Baptist Church in Fluvana County Virginia. After 18 years of servant leadership, he made the graceful decision to retire. He continued to actively pursue Jesus by being a selfless servant for Him by always praying for others, continuing to spread his word, and giving back to the community.
In 2018, he moved to Hampton, VA to be closer to his daughter Eveann-Shay and his grandson "G-boy". He was preceded in passing by his beloved mother Ms. Evelyn Claxton; Father George Edwards, and brother Donald Wayne Edwards.
His loved ones left to cherish precious memories of him are his Daughters Eveann-Shay Te Claxton and Margaret Claxton; his one and only Grandchild Corion Melvin whom he proudly called G-Boy; Brothers Glen Claxton and Kenny Claxton; Sisters Paulette Claxton, Joyce Norrell, Carol Claxton, and Lisa Claxton Thaxton (Darryl); two devoted loyal friends Dr. Robert L. Harrell and Paul Barksdale; and a host of nieces, nephews, close family, and friends.
The service will take place at Elliston Baptist Church in Elliston, VA on Saturday, July 20th, 2024. The viewing and family hour will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a celebration of life service at 12 noon.
