Victoria "Vickie" Dawn Purves Hancock McRoy, born to Harry R. and Ada H. Purves on August 1, 1952, died at the age of 73 on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, H.R. and Eddie Purves; both daughters, Penny Lee and Tracy Dawn Hancock; her mother-in-law, Walda Landes; and numerous beloved pets.

Vickie Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Mike McRoy; her sister, Barbara Hayslett (Jack); her sisters-in-law, Sarah Ann Purves, Beverly Purves, and Lisa Landes. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, many friends, and her precious cats, Missy, Allie, and Casey.

Vickie Dawn asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Camp Easterseals in New Castle or to Area 8 Special Olympics in memory of her daughter, Tracy, who loved participating in both.

A memorial service to honor Vickie Dawn will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 12 noon at Valley Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
