Shirley Ann Smith Phipps, age 85, of Salem, Virginia, departed this life on March 19, 2023, at Lewis Gale. She was born on April 18, 1937, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Ernest and Mae Hylton Smith.

Shirley was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church until her decline in health. She enjoyed baking, watching soap operas, online shopping, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play.

In addition to her mother and father, Ernest and Mae H. Smith, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Frank Phipps, Sr.; brother, Russell Smith, and his wife Margaret Weathers Smith; and brother, Weathers Smith.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her sons, Frank Phipps, Jr. of Salem, VA, and Kevin (Kike Fujil) Phipps of Michigan; grandsons, Charle s" CJ" Jones, and Terrel "TJ" Jones of Roanoke, VA; granddaughter, Reika Fuji of Michigan; sister in law, Jean Smith of Roanoke, VA; cousin, Anna Crockett of Roanoke, VA; in-laws, Edna (Charles) Simpson; special friends, Rev. Willis Logan and his family and Darlen Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
