Sherry Buerger Pearson, passed away on July 20, 2021, at the age of 81, from natural causes.  She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kevin Pearson, her son, Sean Reynolds (Melissa), granddaughter, Carli Reynolds (Matt), of Richmond, Virginia, her brother, Terry Buerger, of Columbus, Ohio, her nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces.  Sherry was born and raised in Kenton, Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in English, and began her career as an English teacher. She later received her master's degree in library and information science, from Florida State University, and embarked on a second career as a librarian. Sherry had a lifelong, abiding, passion for reading. She enjoyed travel and lived, at various times, in San Francisco, CA, Miami, FL, and Vermont, prior to settling, with Kevin and Sean, in Virginia, living first in Charlottesville, later in Richmond, and finally in the Roanoke area, where she became Head Librarian of the Vinton Branch of the Roanoke County Library System.  Sherry's favorite part of being a librarian was the pleasure she received from helping the patrons find the information they needed, whether just the right book or the right website on the Internet. After more than fourteen years of service, Sherry retired from the library and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and attending theater and musical performances at various venues from Abingdon to Washington, D.C. She will be greatly missed by those of us who loved her and the many people whose lives she touched. At Sherry's request, there will be no memorial service. Those who wish to honor her memory are invited to make donations in her name to their local performing arts centers, or by sending a check to the Friends of the Library, South County Library, 6303 Merriman Road, Roanoke, VA 24018, ATTN: FOL, designating the donation for the Vinton Branch.
