Shawn Matthew Thomas, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed peacefully joining his mother in Heaven on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at the age of 43.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arnold Thomas, Sr. and Lois Faye Smith Thomas who passed last month; aunts, Betty, Vickie and Becky Smith; cousin, David Smith,

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Michelle Thomas; his sons, Mathew Carper (Allison), Jerry and Nathaniel Thomas; grandchildren, Brian and Madelyn Carper; siblings, Brenda Thomas, Jim Thomas (Mandy), Roger Thomas (Brooke); half-sister, Jasmine Henry (Clint); uncles and aunts, Robert "Bob" Smith (Sherry), Romia Smith, Clair Spradlin (Warren), J. Ralph Smith, Willis Smith, Elmer Smith, Cora Smith, and Tammie Smith; also many cousins and friends.

Shawn was a loving family man that always put his family's needs before his own. He loved to be the center of attention and was known to be a jokester to his family. He enjoyed playing his video games when he could with his sons. Shawn was very happy in life even when he was a younger boy, his aunts said. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and watching a TV series of Dark Shadows. He will be lovingly missed by all lives he touched.
