Roanoke
Serita Nadine Epperly Fry entered our Lords loving grace on August 6, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born in Montgomery County, Virginia on November 30, 1929, Serita was the daughter of the late Charlie Wyatt and Ernestine Helm Epperly. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Charles W Fry, their son Michael W Fry, sister Delores Epperly Hall, and brother Charles W Epperly.
A longtime resident of Roanoke, she spent many years employed with Rowe Furniture . Later, she joined the team at Walmart in Salem working as a greeter. She became a familiar welcoming presence for customers often brightening their day with her friendly smile. She was an active and dedicated member of CommUNITY church in Salem, and her faith was an important part of her life.
She led an active life, enjoying activities such as bowling, golfing, music, and boating while Charles pursued water skiing. She cherished their frequent trips to Myrtle Beach.
Serita is survived by her sisters Tressia Epperly Detrick and Willa Epperly Angle, as well as three nephews: Stephen Epperly (Karen), Christopher Epperly, and Andrew Angle.
Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects at Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Roanoke on Wednesday, August 12 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. This visitation will provide an opportunity for loved ones to honor her life, offer condolences, and share memories with those who knew and cared for her.
Following the visitation, a graveside service and burial will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In a meaningful tribute to the family's bond, the interment will include not only her but also the cremated remains of her beloved husband Charles, and their son, Michael. Together they will be laid to rest united in their final resting place.
