Mrs. Sarah Kathrene-Savannah Peoples Redd, of Roanoke, Virginia, peacefully passed away joining her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 11 th , 2022, at the age of 83. She was born in Giles County, Virginia on October 5 th , 1938, to the late Joseph and Signora Peoples. In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her loving husband Lewis Walter Redd Sr.; her brothers, Ralph Peoples (Josie), Edward "Ed" Peoples (Martha), Garnet Peoples (Jean), George Peoples (Peggy), Ollie Peoples (Elizabeth), and Robert "Bob" Peoples (Molly).
Sarah was a godly woman who was a true matriarch of her family. She gave advice about love, relationships, God, health, and life in general. She enjoyed gardening and being outside, but you could also catch her inside cooking and humming her favorite hymns. She was the sweetest person and would do anything for anyone. She always had a beautiful smile on her face and her contagious laugh could brighten anyone's day.
Those left to cherish Sarah's memories are her brother, Tommy Peoples; her children, Evadora Redd Claxton (John), Dianne Redd, Lewis Redd Jr. "Chucky" (Katina), and Clay Redd; her grandchildren, Sherena Claxton, Kelli Claxton Haywood (Brian), Alexandria Peters, Clay Redd Jr. "CJ", Renae Redd, and Nathan Kasey; her great-grandchildren, Deoshae Claxton, Tanea Witcher, Christopher Claxton-Martin, Taivion Claxton, Gabriel Claxton-Martin, and Samara Haywood; aunts, Connie, Betty, Nancy, and Elizabeth Hill. In addition, Sarah leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and she will be missed dearly.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Redd will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Valley Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving friends at 11 a.m. and the service will begin at 12 p.m. (noon) with Reverend Melton Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
