Sandra Thaird
Goode
Jul 8, 1943 — Sep 6, 2022
Roanoke
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Thaird Goode, 79, of Roanoke, VA. She died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, surrounded by family.
Sandra was born to parents, John Edward and Mary Appling Thaird on July 8, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, the oldest of five girls. She graduated from Van-Far High School in 1961, married at an early age, and had three children from her first marriage. She worked as a homemaker caring for her family, and others, all her life in some form or manner. Her family was her sole focus, and she took care of them, sometimes to the exclusion of her own needs.
Before Sandra's health declined, she had been a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) and Concerned Women of America (CWA), volunteered at the Agape Center in Moneta, VA, and contributed financially to several Christian ministries. She had a green thumb and loved her plants and flowers. She enjoyed politics, painting, knitting, crocheting, reading, old movies, family gatherings, and studying her Bible. She loved Jesus and continually looked for His return during her lifetime. If anyone knew Sandra, they knew how much she loved the Lord! Her faithfulness was observed by many, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 37 years, William "Bill" Goode of Moneta, VA.; hers and his six children, Christina Morris (Todd) of Roanoke, VA., Malissa Ferguson of Mission, Texas, John Ferguson of Elizabeth City, N.C., Michael Goode (Dayanara) of New Haven, Conn., Scott Goode of Tacoma, Wash., and Shawn Goode (Sima) of Somerset, Mass.; former daughter-in-law, Anita Ferguson of Pilot, VA.; former son-in-law, Mark Benjamin; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Malinda Beshears of Gladstone, Mo., Marsha Signoracci of Laddonia, Mo., and Kimberly Easton of Center, Mo.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward Thaird of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mary Ruth Appling of Mexico, Mo., and her sister, Patricia Ruth Eggeman of Kansas City, Mo.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Roanoke Wildlife Rescue Center or Hope of the World-Jonathan Cahn.
