Ruth Butler Hall, age 76, affectionately known as Granny, of Roanoke, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2023. She was born on November 28, 1946, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late William and Violet Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Franklin Hall; her parents, William and Violet Butler; brother, Johnny Butler; sister, Debbie Nylander; nephew, Kevin Butler, and niece, Audrey Allen.

Ruth was employed with Lewis Gale Psychiatric Center, where she worked as a housekeeper. She later retired after more than twenty years of dedicated service. But she did not stop there; she continued to clean homes for several years leading up to her decline in health. She loved cooking and spending time with her family. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was one of a kind; she would go above and beyond to help anyone she could; often putting others before herself.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Mary Hall and Wendy G. Hall (John); six grandchildren, Kyra, Christian, Karissa (Brandon), Hali, Tiffany (Ryan), and Ashleigh; ten great-grandchildren, Brice, Lacy, Dixie, Mason, Calum, Carter, Augusten, River, Julius and Rylan; two brothers, Chester Butler (Wanda) and George Butler (Diane), one sister, Darlene Allen; sister-in-law, Sandra Butler; brother-in-law, Pete Nylander; special friends, Beth, Calvin, Sally (Sam), Pat (David), Ruth Miller, and Lorell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Gordon officiating.

Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Following the interment, there will be a meal prepared for family and friends at Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church.
