Robert Lee
Sloan
May 8, 1944 — Mar 14, 2021
Roanoke
Robert "Pawpaw" Sloan, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2021 in Roanoke, Virginia surrounded by his loving family.
Robert Lee Sloan was born on May 8, 1944 in Franklin County, Virginia and was the youngest child of 7 to George Thomas and Edith Sloan. After growing up in Franklin County, he went to work at Singer Furniture for 29 years as a foreman, then moved on to do the same at Hooker Furniture for another 10 years before eventually retiring.
Throughout his life, one of Robert's favorite things to do was spend time with his family and watch his kids and grand kids grow up. He was known for his great sense of humor and always having a smile on his face. Robert loved his cat Pookie, and dog Mako, fishing, music (especially Johnny Horton), watching nature shows, and having a cup of coffee every morning. Most of all, he loved his dear wife of 35 years, Patsy Ann Sloan.
Robert is survived by his wife, Patsy; his children, Randy Sloan, Guy LaPradd, Donna Dillon, and Tina Jackson; his sister, Esther Huffman; his 7 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren including his "daughter," Tina Smallwood; and his special friend Bonnie LaPradd. He was endlessly loved and respected by everyone he met, and anyone who got to be around him felt lucky to do so. He will be greatly missed.
At Robert's request, there will be no services held as he would like to be celebrated and remembered for all of the good times he shared with everyone. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers at this time.
