Robert "Bob" Martin, of Hardy, Virginia, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on his 81st birthday, July 19, 2025.

Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, on July 19, 1944, Bob was the son of Ralph and Eva Martin. He spent much of his life in Indiana, where he worked for the Pillsbury Company until the business relocated to Tennessee in 1990. Afterward, Bob launched his own machine shop, Marard Design and Fabrication, where he continued to design parts for Pillsbury's machinery until his retirement in 2006.

An innovative mind and skilled craftsman, Bob found great joy in building furniture and restoring antiques. His hands were never idle, and his love of working with wood and metal brought beauty and function into the lives of others.

Bob was a man of quiet faith, first as a member of First Prairie Creek Church in Indiana, and later as a member of Halesford Baptist Church in Hardy, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, LeeAnn Martin; his parents, Ralph and Eva Martin; his sister, Joann; his sister-in-law, Rita Elliott; and his in-laws, Richard and Charlotte Elliott.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 62 years, Dian Martin; daughter, Kimberly Sanders-Johnson (Todd); grandchildren, Morgan Sanders (Ann), Dylan Oxendine (Kabell), and Carson Sanders (Jordan); two great-grandchildren, Carter Oxendine and Charlotte Oxendine; and brothers, Kent and Paul Martin.

The family will honor Bob's life privately in a celebration filled with love and remembrance.
