Robert E. Lee Shepperd, 63, of Roanoke, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lula Shepperd; his brothers, Paul and Larry Shepperd; his brother-in-law, David Altice Sr.; and his father and mother-in-law, Boyd and Polly Altice.

Robert was a hard worker. Working as a painter in steel fabrication, he took his work very seriously and was proud of the job he did. He was also always there to give a helping hand wherever he could. Nobody in his family went without because Robert was there to help them if he could. Other than his beautiful family; Robert loved watching westerns, being on the mountain enjoying the scenery, and spending his weekends at the racetrack. Robert will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Those left to cherish Robert's memory are his wife, Joann Shepperd; his son, Allen Altice (Sonya); his grandson, Larry Altice (Beth) and their children, Brayden, Sophia, and Hunter; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester Shepperd (Diane) and George Shepperd (Shelly); his sisters, Mable Harden, Gertrude Ann Thomason, and Dorothy Kane; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Francis Shelor (Stanely) and Christine Metcaff (Gary); his brother-in-law James Altice; his nephew that he helped raise and considered him a father figure, Michael Altice; his great-nieces he helped raise, Haleigh and Julia Altice; another nephew he helped raise, Jose "JB" Lopez; and many other nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held for Robert on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will last from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. with the celebration beginning at 7 p.m. to honor Robert's memory.
