Richard Lambert Jones, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the age of 97. He was born to the late Richard and Mary O'Hara Jones in Houston, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Colleen Jones; and his wife, Regina Teresa Claffey Jones.

During World War II, Richard served as a U.S. Army Medic in the Battle of the Bulge and the Ardennes Campaign. He recently received the "Legion of Honor" Award from the French government to acknowledge his accomplishments while passing through France. He was knighted "Sir Richard" during the ceremony on Bastille Day, July 14, 2021, at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. Following WWII, Richard became a metallurgist and served in that capacity during his thirty-five-year career with U.S. Steel Fairless Works.

Richard enjoyed hunting, as well as fishing, with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6495. He was a longtime member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Richard J. Jones (Sarah) of Dublin, VA, Dennis R. Jones (Nasrin) of Woodcliff Lake, NJ, and Stephen R. Jones (Jennifer) of Seminole, FL; his brother, Robert L. Jones (Debra) of Beaver Falls, PA; his grandchildren, Daniel Jones (Jennifer), Laura Jones-Morales (Hugo), Kimberly Barnett (Jon), Colleen Jones, Evan Jones, Carmen Jones, Treasa Jones, and Sadie Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Sofia Morales, Mateo Morales, Brandon Jones, Cullen Jones, Charlie Barnett, and Garrix Barnett.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, beginning at 10:00 a.m., to be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marianne Morgan. Interment will follow at Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville, NJ.
