Richard Harman Amos, age 71, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret Amos; and his brother, Thomas.
Richard graduated from Patrick Henry High School, in Roanoke, Virginia, and graduated from, Radford University, in Radford, Virginia.
Richard lived in Texas for many years and developed quite an affinity for the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and all college sports.
Richard was a regular patron of All Sports Café on Grandin Road in Roanoke, where he met his wife, Beth. They were happily married for 16 years.
He was an avid reader of history, military, and science-fiction novels; especially enjoying his yearly Memorial Day Week at Sunset Beach, in North Carolina, and the yearly Labor Day "Pig Picking" on Bradshaw Road, both with Beth and surrounded by his friends.
Richard was a charter member of the "Bombed Squad" who traveled yearly during the '80s and '90s to Atlanta, Georgia to see the Braves play baseball.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beth of Roanoke, Virginia; his son, Richard Melancon (Casey) of Granbury, Texas; his grandchildren, Charlie, Jesse, Hank, Frankie of Granbury, Texas; stepdaughters, Kimberly Reed (Chris) and their children, Donovan and Keelie, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Christina Davis (Jody) and her child, Greenly, of Fort Valley, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Tom and Julie Amos and their children, Tristan and Ian, Lilly Amos, Taylor Amos; special cousin, Jo Kenny and her family; and his life long college buddies.
