In loving memory of Phyllis Ann (Houchins) Byrd, age 71, of Richlands, (and Roanoke), Virginia who went to her Heavenly Reunion on December 20, 2021.

Born in Tazewell County, VA on April 14, 1950, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Columbus and Mag Houchins. Columbus was a coal miner and farmer. When God made Columbus, he broke the mold. Mag was a full time Mommy, guitar pickin', singing, soul winner for Jesus. They both worked hard raising thier five children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Oldson Houchins, and Richard Viets (Jeannie).

Survivors include her former husband, Robert Byrd of Raven, VA, and their son, Robbie Byrd and daughter Lynn Lane (Terry)of Roanoke, VA, two grandsons, Josh Byrd (Ashley) of Roanoke, VA, and Andrew Bulaski of Salem, VA; one great-grandson, Camden Byrd, and one great-granddaughter, Rowan Byrd, both of Roanoke, VA; one brother Ronnie Houchins of Richlands VA, three sisters; Bonnie Poff (Rodger) of Floyd, VA, Muril Lein Fields (Lee) of Vinton, VA and Jeannie Houchins of Richlands, VA.

Phyllis was a loving Momma, Nanny, and Sister. Her children, Lynn and Robbie, were her heart. As were her grandbabies. Phyllis was a woman of great faith. Her deepest prayers were for all of her family to accept and serve the Lord. She was a wonderful caregiver to many people before she retired. She treated her patients with care and even as babies. She honored and served them during the last part of their journey here on earth. She loved God. She loved people. She fought a good fight. She kept the faith! Hallelujah and Amen!

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Phyllis's Life will be conducted on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Evangel Foursquare Church, 2360 Hardy Rd., Vinton, VA, with Pastor Tim Wright officiating. Evangel was Phyllis' home church and she loved her dear church family. Friends and family may gather at 1:00 pm.
