Obituary

Patty Ellen Thomas, beloved mother, doting grandmother, dedicated daughter, devoted sister, loving aunt, and most cherished of friends was called home to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven at 10 p.m. on January 31, 2022, at the age of 57. She grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, and was raised by a very loving mother Louie Mae Stebar (or "Maw Maw" as us grandchildren knew her) with brothers Arthur James Thomas Jr. and Herbert Thomas and her loving older sister Diane Marie Thomas (Jenkins), in a loving and family-oriented home which hosted "Sunday Dinners" for decades that became the staple of "The Thomas Family".

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Lovie Mae Stebar; devoted sister, Diane Marie Thomas (Jenkins); grandsons, Giovonnie Lee Thomas, Jayden Mychel Thomas, and Jerimiah Thomas; and granddaughter, Serenity Taylor.

She is survived by her loving sons, Brandon Scott Thomas, and Dustin Robert Thomas; her caring brothers, Herbert Thomas and his wife Barbara Thomas, and Arthur James Thomas, Jr.; granddaughters, Evelyn Thomas, Braelyn Thomas, and countless other cousins and adopted grandchildren throughout the Roanoke Valley.

She was not only a great mother to two hardheaded boys but a caring person towards everyone. She worked at Friendship Manor in Roanoke, Virginia for over a decade (until a stroke left her unable to in 2000) and after a ten-hour shift, she would donate blood plasma to get her sons a new movie every Friday night with some McDonalds. Raising two sons by herself wasn't easy, but Patty did so with a smile and a laugh, spreading advice and keeping a listening ear for the neighborhood children that would always end up at the house. She would open up her home to everyone to come to eat her famous fried rice and taco salad with crescent rolls. She touched many hearts and will be missed by many. I for one can't wait for you to open the gates for me. I love you momma, a bushel, a peck, and a hug around the neck. You'll always be my lighthouse in dark waters to guide me home. Dustin and I owe you our lives, but I am glad I could at least make you smile and be able to do this for you. Love your baby boy, Brandon Scott Thomas.
