Nelson Gray Moran, 82, of Roanoke, beloved husband, father, and loyal friend, departed this life on January 25, 2026, at his residence. Born on April 16, 1943, to the late Dexter and Eva Akers Moran. He was married to Linda Moran, who survives.

Nelson was preceded in death by his siblings, Sam and Jim Moran, and Barbara McCoy.

Nelson lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his country, and his work. A proud United States Army veteran, he served with honor and dignity. Known for his steadfast work ethic, he dedicated over 50 years to the Hidden Valley Country Club.

He leaves behind a cherished family, including his devoted wife of 54 years, Linda Thornton Moran; his daughters, Christy Moran Cox and Tamatha Hannabass; his brothers, Billy Moran and George Moran; his sister, Mary Lee Higgs and his treasured grandchildren, Caitlin Schossau (Cody), Jonathan Cox and Oliva Green, along with one great-grandchild and a new arrival expected soon. His legacy of service and love will live on in our hearts.
