Myson Sylvestre, age 18, of Amherst, VA, was tragically taken from us in a car accident where he was submerged in Nelson County Rockfish River; he was one among the 5 who died.

Myson was born in Les Cayes, Haiti on June 27, 2004, to his father, Manel Dormevil, and his mother, Marie-Loundes Sylvestre.

He left Haiti when he was 5 years old and moved to Salem, Virginia in 2010. Myson was a well-rounded individual who his peers admired. He enjoyed playing basketball and football and played football for Amherst County High School. He was a senior at Amherst County High School and was scheduled to graduate in the Spring of 2023.

Preceding Myson in death is his maternal grandfather, LouLou Sylvestre.

Those left to cherish Myson's memory are his parents; his grandmother, Julmene Sylvestre; his sister, Jessica Ferjuste; his aunts, Nehemie Sylvestre, Carolle Maurice, Solina Sylvestre, and Ruth Sylvestre; his uncles, Max Sylvestre, Thelius Rosier, Ronald Maurice, and Jean Castor Augustin; his cousins, Karminsky Raymond, Rodrick Maurice, Kenisha Maurice, Mury Sylvestre, Lowy Sylvestre, Ian Rosier, Amarijane Rosier, Mark Mettelus, Jean Castor Augustin, Jr., and Ruthamar Augustin; his nephews, Emmanuel and Samuel Francois; and many other family members and friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Myson will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the chapel of  Valley Funeral Home, beginning at 10 a.m., with Ronald Maurice as officiant. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.

The family would like to thank our family, friends, and communities for reaching out and showing their support and love for Myson. Though his life was taken from us far too young, his impact on everyone he met was far from insignificant and will be treasured by many.
