Mya Lynn Johnson of Roanoke, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born on May 8, 2002, to Gary Wayne and Traci Lea King Johnson, both surviving.
Mya was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gary L. Johnson and Myrna Tusso; great-grandparents, Suzie Johnson, Helen Fielder, and John and Martha "Jo" Taylor.
Mya was a confident and outgoing young woman. She was never shy to conversation, telling jokes she considered "knee-slappers". She was a "mother hen" to the people she loved, taking care of those around her. She loved to change her hair color and learned to apply make-up by herself. She was a girly girl when she needed to be, but a tomboy most of the time. Mya was a huge Redskin fan, always butting heads with her Cowboy fan father. She loved to make birthday cakes from scratch for family members on their birthdays. Mya loved her family and especially her little brother Devin, including herself whenever she could to see and support him. Despite the distance, she loved all three of her brothers the same and would do anything for them.
In addition to her mother and father, Mya leaves to cherish her precious memories; her two beautiful children, 19-month-old, Bradlee and 9-month, Hinslee; three brothers, David Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and Devin Johnson; her grandmother, Shelia Lovern; two aunts, Misty "Mimi" Thomas, and Destiny "Bootsie" Taylor; two uncles, Cody Dooley, and Yancey Booth; cousins, Angie Smith, Billy Smith, Nicholas Reedy, and Uriah "DJ" Thomas; special friends, Daniel Behrend, and Timothy Dooley, and a host of other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the chapel of Valley Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
