Maybelle Wertz Walker, affectionately known as "NANA," age 99, went to her Heavenly home on May 1, 2023, at Salem Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on September 13, 1923, in Salem, Virginia to the late Luther Griffin Wertz and Octavia Garst Wertz.

In addition to her parents, Luther and Octavia Wertz, Maybelle was preceded in death by her husband, Julian D. Walker; her siblings, Earl Wertz, Fred Wertz, Elizabeth Terry, and Dorothy Smith.

Maybelle was employed by General Electric in Salem, Virginia, and retired after ten years of dedicated service. She also babysat for many years during and after her career; caring for over a hundred children over the years.

Maybelle is survived by her son and his wife, Terry, and Teresa Walker; two fur babies, which she adored, Booties and Tippie; several nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Dreama Ayers for all your help over the last few years.

The family will have a private funeral service.
