Mary Imogene Pitcock, 87, of Roanoke, Virginia, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hunter and Lavada Pitcock; her beloved siblings, Charles Pitcock and Emma Franklin; her nephew, Chuckie Pitcock; and her niece, Lorraine Mitchell.
Those left to cherish her memory include her niece, Eula Sears; her great-nephews, Michael Fadorick, Jr. (Gail) and Christopher Huffman (Kristi); her great-great-nephew, Alan Fadorick; her great-great-niece, Katie Gregory (Michael); her great-great-great-niece, Caroline Gregory; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 33 years of service. She retired to care for her mother, and following her mother's passing, she became a caregiver for a special friend who was a World War II veteran.
Mary was devoted to her family, a mother figure to some and a friend to others. She loved the outdoors and nature, taking rides along the parkway and visiting her childhood home in Rural Retreat, Virginia. She enjoyed being at home with her family, as well as spending time alone watching nature programs and learning about history. She also enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart and Family Worship Center, among other Christian programs.
During the last months of her life, Mary developed a closer relationship with the Lord, making Him her first priority. She was an inspiration to those who met her and had the opportunity to know her. Aunt Mary would refer you to 2 Timothy 4:7-8:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Good Samaritan Hospice House, Jim Quesenberry and Pat and Johon Grim. They would also like to thank all the prayer warriors who stood in the gap for them during this time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Church, 7780 Willow Branch Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065, with Pastor George Delo officiating. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service, and a luncheon will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to New Life Church in Boones Mill, Virginia.
