Mary Lee Marrs Shinault, born on September 1, 1928, in Bluefield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Roanoke, VA, at the age of 96.

A devoted Christian, Mary was a faithful member of Valley Cathedral Church for many years and deeply cherished her relationship with the Lord. She worked at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mamie Tibbs Marrs; her sisters, Charlotte Ann Morgan, and Bobbie Jean Ricker; her brother, Henry "Skip" Marrs; her first husband of 52 years, Frank Shinault; her second husband of 8 years, Samuel Smith; and her granddaughter, Holly Lineberry Deal.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janet Huff (Jimmy) of Salem, VA, Jeri Craig (Donny) of Roanoke, VA, and JoAnn Roseberry of Salem, VA; her grandchildren, Kristen Criner (Keith) of Vinton, VA, Tony Cook (Keisha) of Vinton, and James Roseberry (Erinn) of Roanoke, VA; 8 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date to celebrate her long and faith-filled life.
