Marlow Ferguson, born on December 28, 1937, in New Jersey, embraced the world with his immense talents and a heart dedicated to the arts and community. He peacefully departed on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, in Roanoke, Virginia.

Throughout his illustrious career, Marlow's legacy spans over fifty years as an Equity Actor. His talent graced the stage alongside esteemed actors such as Tommy Lee Jones, John Voight, Eddie Herrman, and Stockard Channing. A versatile artist, he not only graced the stage but also directed performances across the country. His creative expressions extended to the written word, contributing to BBC radio.

Marlow's love for the arts transcended the spotlight and materialized in the creation of The Elizabeth Playhouse. Recognizing the transformative power of theater, he sold his Manhattan apartment to establish The Elizabeth Playhouse, housed in an 1851 church outside of New York City. After a decade of shows, he and Karen embarked on a new chapter, acquiring the old Pete Moore Warehouse on Williamson Rd. to create the Star City Playhouse in Roanoke.

His vision for theater extended beyond the stage curtains; Marlow sought to cultivate an artistic community, offering actors a space to learn and grow. He believed in providing affordable art for everyone, ensuring that creativity thrived unencumbered by financial constraints.

Away from the world of grease paint and spotlights, Marlow was an avid historic renovator, transforming neglected properties into vital community assets. He championed the idea that the arts should own businesses like real estate, freeing them from the constraints of grants and fostering true artistic freedom.

Amidst his hectic schedule, Marlow found solace in his little cottage, caring for his beloved animals—especially Trinket, his favorite Wheatie, and his cherished Bobo.

A Korean War veteran who served in the medical corps, Marlow cherished his global adventures, exploring places like Pakistan and Paris.

Marlow is preceded in death by his parents, William Kravit and Anna Kravolshka Kravit; and his brother, Stanley Kravit.

His warmth extended to his family, and he leaves behind his loving wife, Karen Ferguson; his stepdaughter, Barb Fischer; and grandson, Alex Fischer.

In honoring Marlow's wishes, there will be no formal gathering. Instead, he desired to be remembered through acts of volunteering in the community. Marlow's life was indeed a wonderful journey, and his memory will continue to inspire acts of creativity, compassion, and service, echoing the sentiment that, truly, it was a Wonderful Life.
