Marie Forbes Hopkins, 67, of Daleville, VA, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Born to the late James Sanderlin Forbes and Rose Notarianni Forbes, Marie graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was the proud owner of L'Image Nails & Spa, Daleville Swim Club, and the non-profit HHPC (Helping Hooves, Paws, & Claws). Fondly remembered for her compassionate, outgoing, and innovative spirit, she had a deep love for animals, particularly her beloved dogs, Cookie, Piper, and Jack. Her compassion and care for all living beings were hallmarks of her character.

Marie is survived by her devoted life partner, William "Bill" Hopkins; her children, Amanda (Michael) Turner and Warren (Brittany) Carlough; her stepchildren, Chelsea and Jacob Hopkins; her dear sisters, Judy McRoy and RoseEllen Smith; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Xach) Abell, Warren Jr., Aiden, Rose, and Xander; and her great-grandchildren, Ean, Bentley, Aden, Aurora, and a soon-to-arrive baby girl, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Marie was passionate about the outdoors, finding peace in nature, and joy in spending time with family. She was dedicated to caring for animals, and her creativity shone through in the beautiful crafts she made for her loved ones. Of all her roles, she treasured being a grandmother and great-grandmother, which brought her the most joy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ALS Association or a local animal shelter in her memory. Contributions may also be made to William "Bill" Hopkins for funeral expenses.

A memorial service for Marie Forbes Hopkins will be held on October 23, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Evergreen Burial Park.

Marie's legacy of creativity and her love for animals will continue to resonate with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
