A memorial service to commemorate Doug's life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Mack "Doug" Douglas Trout, of Roanoke, Virginia rode into paradise in his GTO on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born to the late Rose Alice Cline and Leonard Monroe Trout on April 5, 1943. Also preceding Doug in death are his second mother, Nina Nichols; brothers, Leonard (Pee Wee) Trout, Gerald (Bob) Trout, James (JB) Atkins; daughter, Shannon Trout Hughes; stepson, John M. Pritchard; and his grandson, Seth Fowler.

Those left to celebrate Doug's cherished memories are his children, Leonard Doug "LD" Trout, Jr., Michael Trout and Angela Berman and her husband Rob; his companion and wife of 42 years, Susan Trout; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; his brothers, Harold (Pat) Trout and his wife, Judy, Earl Ray Trout, Kenneth Trout and his wife, Shirley; Special Friends, Aubrey (June Bug) Baker, Steve (Lewis) Thompson, David Silvers, Walter Witt, Steven Johnson and numerous racing and car family. Doug also had a very personal relationship with his in-laws (Susan's family) throughout his life and they loved him dearly.

Doug began his career at General Electric working in the painting department, which eventually lead to Doug's love of restoring cars. Doug's love and passion for working on cars during his younger years gave him a gracious life as he was the owner and operator of Doug's Auto Sales and Body Shop for over 48 years, one of the longest-running used car salesmen in the Roanoke Valley. He was a member of Williamson Road Action Forum and was the current title holder for the Noble Grand of the Oddfellows (FLT); he used to do stock car racing at Franklin County Speedway, which eventually led to a lifelong passion for drag-racing. He was also a member of the Guiding Light Sunday School class at Hollins Road Baptist Church.

As life grew around him, his love and nurturing spirit allowed him to do many things in life. Doug was loved by many and always went out of his way to help someone in need. He was stubborn and hardheaded, but that drive and determination allowed him to help the community in any way he could. He would go above and beyond to help people in need especially at Freedom Farms in Buchanan, in which he enjoyed raising money to help Disabled Veterans in the Roanoke Valley. He enjoyed being active in the MDA cars shows, any car show along the East Coast, and in the local Soap Box Derby's. If you knew Doug, you knew that he loved attention, and if you sat quietly long enough you might hear the same story over again. He was adamant about telling people about his love for cars. Doug also enjoyed playing cards every Saturday with his poker buddies for over 30 years and would visit Rosie's frequently.

A service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Hollins Road Baptist Church (3502 Old Mountain Rd. NE Roanoke, Virginia). Interment to follow after the service at Fair View Cemetery (3300 Melrose Ave. NW Roanoke, Virginia).

Anyone wishing to bring an antique or show car to help celebrate Doug's life would be greatly appreciated by the family.
