Mabel Ruth Belcher Dillon, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home in New Castle, Virginia, with her daughter by her side; and went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2023. She was born on September 15, 1928, in Patrick County, Virginia, to the late Randall Madison Belcher and Flora Harris Belcher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-three years, Warren Alton "Tom" Dillon; two sons, Bill Joe, and Danny Dale; two sisters, Myrtle Belcher, and Clayton Creedle; nine brothers, Edgar, and Ernest, Arlie, Walter, Joe, Raymond, Watemon, S.E., and Loy Belcher; one step-grandchild, Charles Sheperd.

Mabel was a member of the Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church in Meadows of Dan. She lived the majority of her life in Floyd, Virginia. She loved to paint, crochet, knit, and embroider. She hand-stitched the binding on hundreds of charity quilts, as well as quilts for her family and friends. She also crocheted hundreds of items for the hospital NIC units. She was a devoted wife and mother, and will deeply be missed.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Dillon Hunter, and her husband, John; two daughters-in-law, Shirley, and Linda Dillon; seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild, seven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
