Laura Velma Wise Goad, age 88, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born on August 10, 1932, in Salem, Virginia to the late John Howard and Mary Elizabeth Wise. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Goad, her brother, and two sisters. She is survived by her nephews who loved her more than anything; special friends of Laura's include the Daring, Hill, Martin, Grubb, Conner, Woods, Morrison, Wood, Lamplight Baptist, and Faith Baptist families.

Laura graduated from Andrew Lewis High School on June 7, 1951. She was saved on February 8, 1953, at New Hope Baptist Church, now Calvary Baptist Church. She was a profound member of Lamplight Baptist Church in Roanoke, where her faith was strong in Christ. She retired from Medeco Security Locks after 12 years of dedicated service and was an accomplished seamstress.

She will be laid to rest beside her parents at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021, with Jeff Gardner officiating.
