Kelly O'Neil Edwards passed away on February 2, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1959.

Kelly worked for many years as a truck driver and later as a security guard before becoming disabled in 1996. He dedicated much of his life to caring for and raising his grandson from 2003 to 2021, a role he cherished deeply. Known as the best "Pop Pop," Kelly took great pride in being a school liaison and remaining active and supportive in his grandson's life. He will be remembered for his devotion to family and the love he shared with those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Alice Pearl Edwards; his mother, Verna Berneice Edwards; his aunts, Alyce Walker and Shirley Stanley; his cousins, Debra, Robin, Stacey Stanley, Wayne Knight, and Ronald Edwards; and his stepson, James Kelley, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Kelley; his grandson, James "Trey" Kelley and Kip Lyons; his granddaughter, Sierra Kelley; his brother, Michael "Butch" Edwards; his sisters, Brenda "Bunny" Edwards, Jackie Edwards, and Kathy Price; his special friends, Debra Starkey and Rodney Brown; and many other beloved family members and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Roanoke City Police Department, especially Sgt. Tim Young and the team from Project Lifesaver, for their care and support. They also wish to express sincere appreciation to the many kind neighbors on Vancouver Drive who had only recently met the family, yet showed such compassion and kindness during this time.

Kelly will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
