Kathy Lawhorn
Jones
Sep 23, 1953 — Nov 4, 2024
Kathy Lawhorn Jones, cherished by all who knew her, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 71.
Kathy loved and put her family and God before everything. She was known for her selflessness, always thinking of and doing for others before herself. She adored gospel, country, bluegrass, and oldies music, finding joy in the simple things in life. There was no one more dedicated to family than Kathy; she truly felt every success, failure, win, and loss of her loved ones as deeply as they did. Her heart was filled with love and compassion, and her hardworking spirit and devotion will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith E. and Juanita E. Lawhorn of Bedford, VA; her husband, Richard C. Jones of Keystone, WV; her son, John G. Jones of Roanoke, VA; and her brothers, Stephen A. Lawhorn of Bedford, VA, and Luther H. Kidd of Interlachen, FL.
Kathy is survived by her loving daughter, Debra C. Jones of Bedford, VA, and her cherished grandchildren: Richard L. Jones (Soma) of Rice, VA, Kathryne E. Jones (William) of Roanoke, VA, Christopher W. Lackey (Tiffany) of Bedford, VA, Bryan K. Andrews (Leann) of Roanoke, VA, Amber France (Adam) of Vinton, VA, and Paige Snow of Vinton, VA. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Kayley, Hayley, Logan, Brooklyn, Landyn, Leah, Harley, Kristina, Emma, and Londyn.
She leaves behind her special sister-in-law, Alesia Lawhorn, and dear friends, Marie Walker, Charlene Davis, Pam Crimmins, and Doug Howell. Kathy also held a special place in her heart for extended family member Leah Thomasson, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.
A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Valley Funeral Home, with a visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the service to begin at 12 p.m., officiated by Pastor Steve Miller. Interment will follow the service at Jeter's Chapel Cemetery in Vinton, VA.
