Judy Umberger Grubb, 80, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026. She was born on October 31, 1945, to the late Camille and Randolph Umberger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Smith.

Throughout her adult life, Judy devoted herself to her family with unwavering commitment. As a homemaker, she created a home marked by stability, kindness, and love, and she approached each day with a quiet strength that shaped the lives of those around her. Judy faithfully taught children's Sunday School for many years, sharing her love of Scripture and offering guidance that left a lasting impact on generations of young students. Her dedication to her church and her service to its ministries were central parts of her life.

Judy was an avid reader who found joy in books of all kinds, and she was a passionate gardener who took great pleasure in nurturing flowers and plants season after season. She and her husband enjoyed traveling together for many years, exploring new places and building memories that remained precious to her. As her health declined, she continued to meet each day with grace, focusing her energy on the people she loved most. Time spent with her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren brought her profound happiness, and she cherished every moment shared with them.

Judy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Grubb; her sons, Jerry Grubb, Jr. (Mary Lynn) and Randy Grubb (Ana); her grandchildren, Matthew Grubb (Sarah), Conner Grubb (Becca), Virginia Grubb, and Andrew Grubb; her four great‑grandchildren; and her sister, Sandra Layman (Richard). Her family remains grateful for the legacy of love, faith, and devotion she leaves behind.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Roanoke, 321 Marshall Ave. SW, Roanoke, Virginia. Her pastor, Dr. Bryan Smith, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the ministry of First Baptist Church of Roanoke.
