Obituary

Judith "Judy" Ann Adkins, 82, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025.

Born on June 16, 1943, in Roanoke, Virginia, Judith was raised in Houghton, Michigan. She was raised in the Lutheran faith and remained devoted to her faith throughout her life.

After obtaining her college degree, Judith moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she met her future husband, Ronkeith Adkins. They were married on October 5, 1967. In 1975, the couple relocated to Roanoke, Virginia, where they raised their two sons.

Judith spent the remainder of her extensive career working at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, later known as Carilion Medical Center, as a medical laboratory technician. Following her retirement, she dedicated her time to charitable work at the Bradley Free Clinic, remained active in her church community at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and enjoyed time with her family and friends. Judith was well known for her helpful, sweet, and kind nature, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bredekamp; her father, Marion Bredekamp; and her beloved husband, Ronkeith Adkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, David Bredekamp and Susan Rustula; and her two sons, Ulysses Adkins and Alexander Adkins.

A memorial service in honor of Judith's life will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, with details to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or to St. Mark's Lutheran Church food bank.06
