Joyce Anne Holt-Byers, 75, of Roanoke, Virginia, joined her husband Arnold in Heaven on Friday, December 17, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Joyce is predeceased in death by her sisters, Mamie and Vernelle, and her loving husband Arnold Dennis Byers.

Joyce was a loving foster mother to all her children and many others; she worked incredibly hard to provide for her family. She had an outgoing personality, who was humble and kind. Joyce never wanted to hurt anyone's feelings, but she was fierce and very outspoken when found necessary. She was blunt but very honest and held a great sense of humor that made friends everywhere she went; no matter who they were. She worked as a private nurse and helped countless numbers of people in the Roanoke Valley. Joyce was very fond of Christmas and enjoyed helping families in need during these times. Mom could wear a perm like no other, always having it look nice wherever she went.

Those left to cherish Joyce's memory are her loving children, David Byers, Frank Byers (Lena), Charles Byers, and Jerry Byers; her 4 grandchildren; her niece, Cindy Reese; and many extended family and friends. At Joyce's request, all services will be private.
