Joyce Brown Clinebell, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on January 17, 2026, after a courageous journey with cancer.

Born on September 9, 1941, and raised in Second Creek, West Virginia, Joyce lived a life shaped by creativity, generosity, and deep care for others. She had a profound appreciation for beauty—not as something extravagant, but as something meant to be shared in everyday life. Through the work of her hands and the warmth of her presence, she made people feel valued and loved.

For many years, Joyce worked as a beautician, a role that reflected her natural gift for helping others feel confident and cared for. Her creativity extended far beyond her profession. She lovingly made Halloween costumes for her children, helped sew dresses for special occasions, arranged flowers with quiet elegance, and took great joy in decorating her home—especially for holidays and the changing seasons, which she marked as moments of celebration and care.

One of the ways Joyce expressed love most naturally was through giving gifts. She might be out somewhere—sometimes at a thrift store, sometimes just running errands—and see something that reminded her of someone she loved. She would buy it without hesitation, not because it was needed, but because she had thought of you. That simple, thoughtful generosity was one of her truest love languages.

She also showed love through food, especially at family gatherings. Her meals—particularly on holidays— were an invitation to come together, to visit, and to feel at home.

Joyce's faith was a source of quiet comfort, especially during times of anxiety and uncertainty. She held a special love for Psalm 23, which reminded her that she was never alone, and that Jesus' steady presence could guide her even through fear.

She is survived by her two children, one grandchild, and great-grandchildren, her sister, nieces, and nephews, her loving daughter-in-law, and by all those who were shaped by her kindness, creativity, and quiet devotion.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in her name to Good Samaritan Hospice, whose kindness, compassion, and care meant so much to Joyce and to all of us.
