Joseph "Joey" Wayne Ellis, Jr., 57, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on September 29, 2025. Born on July 2, 1968, Joey was the proud operator of Ellis Body Shop, where he built lasting relationships with his customers and community. Known for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and loyalty to those he loved, Joey leaves behind cherished memories for all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Ellis, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Pauline and Jack Gibson; and his paternal grandparents, Verlie and Clyde Ellis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Paula Gibson Ellis/Steve Thurn; his special friends, Loretta Hicks, Leon Cochran, Gerald Harper, and Aubrey Dudley; and his beloved fur babies, Susie and Bubba, who brought him so much joy.

A memorial service to honor Joey's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Brentwood Baptist Church, 3912 Plantation Rd. NE, Roanoke, Virginia, beginning at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Rodney Spears and Pastor Richard Huddleston will officiate the service.
