John Wayne Parrish, fondly known as Wayne to friends and family, was born on July 14, 1946, and passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the age of 78.

Wayne was a proud graduate of William Fleming High School and a successful realtor in the Roanoke Valley for many years. He had a deep love for horses, raising and showing them, and won various titles and championships. Wayne also had a passion for children and Christmas, hosting an annual Christmas Open House for his customers, family, and friends. Above all, Wayne loved Jesus and had a personal relationship with Him.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Donald "Red" Parrish, and his wife, Mary. He is survived by two sisters, Dawn Karnes and her husband Fred, and Tonya Lampersberger and her husband Todd; nieces and nephews Brittaney and Brian Williams, Heather Lampersberger, Danielle and Edgar Narvaez, and Jacob Karnes; along with many cousins, friends, and his beloved bird, Spirit.

Wayne generously donated his body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program to continue helping and improving others' lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in his name to Fairview United Methodist Church, 1310 Van Buren St., Roanoke, VA 24017.
