Joel Stephen Hunt, 67, of Blue Ridge, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on January 6, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry H. and Virginia K. Hunt; his sister, Christine Cox; and his brother, Robert M. Hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, William R. Verish (Jayme), Sarah V. Parker (Will), and Lauren S. Hunt; his sisters, Karen Helton (Jessie), and Sandra Tilson (Roger); his brother, Harry Hunt (Bessie); his grandchildren, Cole, and Owen Parker; and his nieces and nephews.

Joel was born in Tazewell, VA, and grew up in Abingdon, VA. He graduated from Abingdon High School and attended Virginia Tech. Joel was a talented electrical service engineer working for Westinghouse Electric, Cutler Hammer, and Eaton Corporation. During retirement, Joel became an avid beekeeper and woodworker.
