Jimmie "Spud" Lewis Thomason, of Goodview, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the age of 79.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents and in addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his five siblings, and his wife, Urma Joanne Tinsley Thomason.

Those left to cherish Jimmie's memory are his daughter, Lisa Smith, and her husband, David; his sister, Judy Hume, and her family; his brother-in-law, John Tinsley; nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Jimmie was a hardworking man, laying brick as a brick mason for almost 50 years. He spent his free time hunting and using his metal detectors to find valuables. Jimmie loved his family. He always took care of everyone else, even during his hardest times; he made sure everyone else was taken care of first, never worrying about himself. His favorite hangout spot was the Bee Quick on Hardy Road in Vinton, where he made friends with everyone there. Between the customers and staff, he created a store family that all hung out there and became very close friends.

In addition to his family, Jimmie leaves behind several close friends, especially Don and Bruce, and many others too numerous to name, you know who you are. A special friend that will live in Jimmie's heart forever is his friend Anne and her family.
