Jerry Wayne Janney, affectionately known as "Pettie," passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on December 10, 1957, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Harris Janney and Joyce Janney Bayse.

In addition to his parents, Pettie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Janney; his son, Jeremy Janney; and his step-sisters, Lisa Puckett and Bonnie Igo. He was also preceded by his stepfather, Jewell F. Bayse III.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted son, Jason Janney; and his loving daughter, Brittany Atkinson (Deris). His grandsons, Brett and William Atkinson, will carry forward the memories of their beloved grandfather. Pettie is also survived by his brothers, Steve Janney and Darrell Craighead; his sister, Tammie Sowers (Ronald); his step-sister, Pat Leonard (Mike); his step-brother, Don Bayse (Joyce); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pettie found a dear friend and caregiver in Donna Dalton, along with her children and grandchildren. His loyal companion, Sarge, was also a cherished presence in his life.

Pettie had requested no services, and his family will lovingly honor this request, allowing him to rest in peace.
