James "Jim" W. Stafford, 76, of Vinton VA, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023. He was born on February 16, 1947, and grew up in Pearisburg, VA. He graduated from Giles County High School, where he played his favorite sport, football.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Geneva Stafford, his daughter Jennifer Pennington, his brother Billy Stafford, and his grandson Drew Lewis II.

Left behind to cherish his memories include his wife of 29 years, Deborah Stafford; Son, Scott Stafford; Daughter, Kristy Ferguson; Stepsons, Drew Lewis, and Donavon Lewis. Also surviving are his Grandchildren; Morgan Stafford, Ethan Deskins, Makayla Orange, Mattie Orange, Evonne Leigh Moore, Garrett Pennington, Kathleen Lewis, and Sabrena Lewis; Brother, Jerry Stafford (Virginia); Stepmother, Hazel Stafford; Canine Companion, Meador; and numerous additional friends and family.

Jim spent most of his working career as a sales rep for Mark Trece. His favorite hobbies included golfing with his buddies on their annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach. He also loved fishing, either on the shorelines or deep sea fishing where he caught his prized 6 ft blue marlin.

A Celebration of Life to honor Jim will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Exhaulted Church (5319 Williamson Rd. Roanoke, Virginia 24012) beginning at 3 p.m. with Reverend Jim Ashburry officiating. A gathering to continue Jim's celebration will be held directly following the service at Macado's in Vinton (800 E. Washington Ave. Vinton, Virginia 24179).
