James Lee LaPrade, Sr., of Roanoke, VA, passed away at home on Friday, March 22, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Geneva LaPrade, and his parents Susie Pauline Forberger and Henry Lee LaPrade.

James was a career Truck Driver.  He loved tinkering with lawnmowers in his retirement and camping with family at Craigs Creek. His pride and joy were a 2002 Thunderbird and a 1952 Ford Truck.

James is survived by one daughter, Melinda LaPrade Morris; one son, James Lee LaPrade Jr. and wife Tiffanie Dawn Hubbard; six grandchildren, Jonathan Tyler LaPrade and wife, Amanda "Mandy" Jenell LaPrade, Joshua Avery LaPrade and wife, Amanda Marie LaPrade, Christopher Blake Bowden, Chelsie Nicole LaPrade, Jaden Alexis Harrison, Brielle Cole Hubbard; six great-grandchildren, Alaina Marie LaPrade, Levi Colton LaPrade, Mason Alexander LaPrade, Kathryn Renee LaPrade, Trenton Blake LaPrade, and Raylin LaPrade; many other neighborhood children throughout the years who referred to him as Dad; Nick Shreffler; and one trucking son, Hoss Brunk.

A celebration of life will be held at Valley Funeral Home and Cremation Service, on Saturday, April 6th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
