Retired Chief Warrant Army Officer, James Luther Ferguson, of Goodview, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the age of 90.

James was born in Roanoke, Virginia on February 19, 1931, to the late Jessie Franklin and Jennie Mae Blankenship Ferguson.
Those that precede James in death are his wife, Chun Ja Yu; his mother and father, Jessie and Jennie Ferguson; and his brothers, Jackie B. Ferguson and Joey Lee Ferguson.

James was a retired Army veteran who served his country in the Korean War and spent multiple tours in the Vietnam War. James was also a master pilot in Panama stationed at the Panama Canal. James married the love of his life, Chun Ja Yu in April of 1955 in Incheon, South Korea. They were happily married and would be celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary this year. James was fond of antique cars and had amassed a collection over his life. James was also an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

James lived in Newport News, Virginia for many years but returned to Roanoke in his retirement following the death of his wife, to be closer to family.

Those left to cherish James' memory are his sister, Jane Elizabeth Ferguson Stevens, and her husband, Kenneth Stevens; his brother, Jerry F. Ferguson and his wife, Teeinna G. Ferguson; his son, Jimmy L. Ferguson, and his wife, Cindi A. Ferguson, his daughter Tammie S Williams, and his son Roger W. Ferguson and his wife, Lori L. Ferguson; his grandchildren, Amber Imhoff, T.J. Ferguson, Brittaney Ann Ferguson, Christopher Williams, Kelsey Ferguson Bobek, and Ashley Ferguson Sowers; his great-grandchildren, Noah Kerby, Cruz Kerby, Daniel Imhoff, Stella Kerby, Bryce Imhoff, and Jackson Bobek; sisters-in-law, Mamie Rose Ferguson (Jackie), and Carole Ferguson (Joey); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home.
