James Edward Beamer, Jr., lovingly known as Jim, 75, of Fincastle, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1950, in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late James Edward Beamer, Sr., and Celia Cartwright Beamer.

Jim retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad after a long career as a communications technician. Outside of work, he lived life to the fullest through his many passions. An avid skier, Jim served as President of the Roanoke Ski Club and traveled the world in search of the best slopes. Music was also close to his heart, as he was a gifted guitarist and singer who shared his talent and joy wherever he went. Jim will be remembered as a kindhearted man who never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jo Ann Beamer Merchant, and his brother-in-law, Gary Delbert Merchant.

Those left to cherish his memory include his niece, Sheryl G. Merchant; his nephew, Gary Jason Merchant (Brandy); his great-nephew, London James Merchant; and his great-niece, Lyla Ann Merchant.

In keeping with Jim's wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
