Isaac "Bill" Hoover Bowles, affectionately known as "Uncle Bill," peacefully entered his Heavenly home on July 14, 2023, at the age of 93.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nona Mills Bowles, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. He was a devoted caregiver to Nona, lovingly known as "Sis," until her passing.

A masterful "cake baker," Bill delighted his family and friends with homemade cakes, especially his famous butternut pound cake, which we all cherished. Family picnics were a special joy for him, as he held family close to his heart.

In 2021, Bill welcomed Miss Dixie, his beloved Boston Terrier, into his family. This little lady brought him immense joy and companionship.

During his years at the Virginia State Department, Bill served diligently until his retirement. Afterward, he dedicated himself to tending his flower beds at Smith Mountain Lake, where he and Nona found extended family in the Lancasters. Bill and Jackie, always in touch, remained forever friends and family.

Bill is survived by his nieces, whom he lovingly referred to as his three Angels: Oleitha Palazzola, Rebecca Bethel, and Regina Almond; as well as his nephews, Carson Mills, Greg Mills, and Tony Crantz. He also leaves behind nieces Dianne Smith and Annette Jewel, along with the extended Lancaster family, including Gordon and Rosa, and their children and grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to the nurses and support staff in the ICU at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem for their loving care and comfort during Bill's stay.

In lieu of flowers, Bill requested donations to your local charity or planting a tree in his memory. Let us honor his memory by spreading love and kindness to others, just as he did throughout his life. Isaac "Bill" Hoover Bowles will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of warmth and love.
