Irene Carner, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 99. She was born on September 25, 1925, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, to the late Charles and Nannie Graham.
A longtime member of Roanoke First Church of the Nazarene, Irene was a woman of strong faith and gentle spirit. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, loved traveling and going to the beach, and especially cherished time spent outdoors.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Carner; her sisters, Hazel Lynch and Frances Graham; and her brother, Charles C. Graham.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted daughter, Becky Dotson; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Cameron Dunlop officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to support Alzheimer's research, in honor of Irene's life and legacy.
