Obituary

Harley Darrell Henley, born on May 22, 1947, in Dugspur, VA, bid his final farewell on August 11, 2023, in Salem, VA. A life of dedication, passion, and faith has left an indelible mark on the hearts he touched.

For 34 years, Harley invested his skills as a mechanical design draftsman at General Electric, contributing to the world through his work. Beyond his professional achievements, he found immense pleasure on the greens of the Blue Hills Golf Club, swinging his clubs with fervor. His love for sports extended to tennis, where he displayed his athleticism and shared camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts. His faith was an essential part of his identity, as he was a valued member of Ridgewood Baptist Church.

Harley's journey was preceded by the passing of his parents, Ilean and Harley W. Henley; his brother, Dwight "Bear" Henley; his son, Harley Darell "DJ" Henley, Jr.; and his parents-in-law, Ned and Lois Dean.

Left to carry his memory are his cherished wife, Joanna "Jody" Henley; his devoted son, Jason Crouch (Brandie); and his loving daughter, Angela Koren (Ron). The family extends deep gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Good Samaritan Hospice and Carriage Hill Senior Living Bedford, whose unwavering support provided solace during his journey.

A service honoring Harley's life will be held on September 16, 2023, at Ridgewood Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m., under the guidance of Pastors Ray Kanode and Samuel Rakes. Following the service, a reception in the Fellowship Hall will offer an opportunity to share stories and celebrate the cherished moments that defined his life. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association are encouraged, as a meaningful gesture to remember a life well lived.

Harley's legacy is one of dedication, passion, and love. As we gather to commemorate his life, let us remember the impact he made and the enduring warmth of his memory.
