Gerry R. "Ruth" Parker, 65, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, after a well-fought battle with cancer. Ruth was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a great friend to many. Ruth was born on May 5, 1957, in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Marie Douffas, and her sister, Verlana Campbell.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Amber M. Gordon and husband, David C.; son, Shannon M. Bobbitt, and wife, Mellissa; sister, Donna Coley; brother, John Douffas and wife Judy; grandchildren, Emily N. and Derek M. Gordon and Tiffany Bohanan; nieces, Faith M. Carr and husband, Gregg and Athena Douffas; great-nieces, Journey and Arielle Carr; and great-nephew, Damian Carr.

As the family reflects on Ruth's life, she is remembered as a kind, loving woman who was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She found much pleasure in gardening, allowing the dirt to slip through her fingers. Ruth also enjoyed a good movie and music from the '60s, especially the Beatles. She found it hard to sit still when a Donna Summer song was playing.
