Obituary

Frederica "Ricki" B Hall, 71, of Salem, VA passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Fred Brown Hall and Mary Louise  Hall. She was additionally predeceased by her brother, Buddy Elwood Hall, and her sister,  Barbara Lynn Manning.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving sister, Gayle Reece Tate; daughter, Cynthia Dawn Thompson; son, William Brian Broughman; grandsons, Michael Brandon Thompson and Tyler  Wayne Thompson; granddaughter, Makayla Angelina Broughman; great-grandson, Clark  Everett Thompson; and many dear friends who considered her to be family.

Ricki was born on March 13, 1953, in Roanoke, VA. She loved Virginia for its nature, particularly the view of the mountains that the Roanoke Valley has to offer. Her favorite place in the area to visit was the Peaks of Otter, which contains the Gross Orchard, owned by her maternal relatives. She loved butterflies, so she especially loved Virginia in the spring. She also found comfort in the sounds that nature has to offer and loved to read while listening to the sounds of rain. Amidst all of Virginia's nature, Ricki Hall was the embodiment of sunshine.

Ricki's heart was filled with generosity and care for others. Her career was dedicated to caring for others in her roles as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and  Activity Coordinator. She exhibited true selflessness in all of these roles, caring for each patient as if they were her own family. She enjoyed events at work in which she got the opportunity to  dance with the residents, particularly to her favorite song, "Rocky Top." When she took a break from caring for others, she enjoyed an ice-cold Coca-Cola and a slice of tiramisu.

Ricki was a faithful Jehovah's Witness. She found comfort in God's word and the companionship found in her congregation. She allowed Bible principles to shape the way she lived, allowing her to maintain such a positive outlook on life and find true joy in giving to those around her. In her final days, she encouraged those around her to "be grateful for every day, try  to make every day good, and just keep going." Anyone that had the blessing of knowing Ricki feels confident that her beautiful soul rests peacefully, and that she is in God's memory.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2241 Mill Ln, Salem, VA 24153.
