Obituary

Freddie Alan Dudley , 59, of Gretna, Virginia, passed away on May 13, 2025.  Born on September 29, 1965, in Roanoke, Freddie spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

Freddie was a devoted husband to Peggy Dudley and a proud father to his daughters, Julie Laughlin and Jamie Dudley, and his son Matthew Dudley. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is also remembered by his sisters Linda Murrell (Dave), Priscilla Dudley, and Donna Gray (Joe), along with several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Weeks Dudley and Otey Lee Dudley, as well as his sisters Sylvia Dudley, Iva Pacetti, and Shelby Leonard.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Freddie found peace and joy in nature. Whether casting a line into the water or tracking through the woods, he was an avid fisherman and hunter who felt most at home under open skies. He had a natural gift for working with his hands—always tinkering with something or fixing up cars. A jack of all trades, Freddie could repair just about anything and took pride in using those skills to help others.

His legacy is one of quiet strength, resourcefulness, and deep love for those closest to him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on May 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Covenant Christian Church, 4807 Cove Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24017. Interment  Glade Creek Cemetery.
